Is Farmington Baseball operated
through the city?
-No. We are a non-profit
group that is completely run by parent volunteers. Farmington City does not participate in baseball.
When does the season start and end?
-April 16th is the opening day (this is the only scheduled Saturday game). The t-ball and shetland leagues will end
the first week in June. The other leagues will have play-offs and the end of the season depends on how far they advance.
The regular season in total will end no later than June 24th.
Can I make player requests or request a certain coach?
-In t-ball and shetland, you can make up to 4 player requests per child or submit
an entire team with a coach selected. You cannot make player or coach requests in any other league unless you
are coaching and you are then allowed to choose one player whose parent will be able to assist you. You can request
a sibling to be on the same team if they are playing in the same league.
Are the leagues co-ed?
Yes. Farmington is proud that the only 2 girls who competed in the 2010 state all-star tournaments
(over 600 kids) were from Farmington. We support and encourage any interest in baseball by any gender.
What date determines age?
-It is the age of your child as of April 30th.
Can
I have my child play down a level?
-Generally, no.
If there are extenuating circumstances that you would like considered, you need to contact John Wendt at (801) 447-8200 or
by email rebeccawendt@aol.com before registering. Can I have my child play up
a level?
-Yes.
What days of the week do they play?
-The fields have games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. If rainouts occur,
the make-up games may be scheduled on Monday or Saturday (although we make every effort not to have this happen). At
this point, we are trying to schedule t-ball games on Wednesday and Friday nights and shetland games on Tuesday and Thursday
nights (this is tentative as it depends on the number of teams).
When
are the skills assessments for the mustang and bronco leagues and what are they?
-March 26th at 11 a.m. Skills assessments are mandatory for these 2 leagues
only. Kids are assessed at their current level of ability and then teams are selected to ensure as equal a dispersement
of talent on all teams as is possible.
